What is acne?
Acne is nothing but black and white heads, pimples and scarring caused due to over active sebaceous glands, which is characterized by scaly and red patches. It most likely is witnessed amongst teens hitting puberty and amongst some adults.
What causes acne?
Nobody is a 100% sure of what is the cause behind acne but experts all over the world believe that it has some connection with the hormone androgen. Androgen is an hormone produced in the body once you reach puberty. This hormone is responsible for causing the oil glands in your skin to enlarge and as the androgen level rises, the oil glands also get bigger and bigger. This increase in size leads to excess production of oil that eventually results in acne in some teenagers. This is because the excessive oil secretion results in the breaking down of cellular walls providing space for the bacteria to settle and grow.
